Alex Hughes, a dynamic and commanding pop-country vocalist, takes the stage with a blend of femininity and fierceness that captivates audiences. Hailing from Calgary, AB, Alex’s signature style combines a penchant for pop beats infused with contemporary country flair. Alex has a deep-rooted love for classic sounds like that of Linda Ronstadt and Patsy Cline, but adds the modern sensibilities of artists like Carly Pearce and Carrie Underwood to her sound.

Alex’s latest single, “Until This Fire Dies”, produced by award-winning Dan Swinimer (Jojo Mason and Madeline Merlo), embodies her deep-rooted affection for country music while infusing it with a modern and alluring twist. This captivating anthem, which explores an intense and undeniable passion, showcases Alex’s astounding vocal range, while its unforgettable chorus soars above the infectious production.The track earned Alex the coveted cover spot on Apple Music Canada’s “Canada’s Country” editorial playlist, and she performed the song live on Global Calgary in November 2023.

Growing up in a large, multicultural family exposed Alex to a diverse musical landscape that has shaped her artistry. From the rhythms of Bollywood to the melodies of traditional Hawaiian music, and even the cadence of hip-hop and R&B, her family’s eclectic musical tastes have profoundly influenced her. This is evident in her remarkable ability to interpret diverse genres and make them her own.

Throughout her career, Alex has opened for a remarkable array of artists, including Aaron Pritchett, George Canyon, Kenny G, and Babyface. Her performances have graced iconic venues such as The House of Blues on Sunset Strip, Tootsies in Nashville, and Nashville North at The Calgary Stampede.

Alex’s debut single, “Strong As You,” rapidly gained a devoted following, ascending to the tenth spot among the most downloaded indies on Canadian country radio in its first week. Subsequent releases, such as “Tee Time,” produced by CCMA and JUNO-nominated production duo Justin Kudding and Spencer Cheyne (Brett Kissel & Leaving Thomas), the captivating “On The Line” featuring the immensely talented artist and producer Josh Sahunta, and the emotionally charged and candid, “After 31,” have marked pivotal milestones in Alex’s artistic journey. These achievements include the music video for “Tee Time” amassing over 78,000 views on YouTube, the inclusion of “On The Line” on Spotify’s Live Country (North Country) editorial playlist, and the addition of “After 31” to SiriusXM’s Top Of The Country Radio.
